Washburn to Donate Guitars to Benefit Victims of The Station Night Club Fire

On February 20th 2003, the Rhode Island music scene suffered one of the greatest club tragedies in our nation’s history; The Station Night Club fire. One hundred lives perished, and countless families and friends have had their lives turned derailed to say the least.  Many survivors of the fire are still facing a long road of painful surgery and rehabilitation. Children of parents who lost in the fire still are in need of help.

On Monday February 20th, 2006 local radio station 94.1 WHJY will conduct a “Radiothon” from 6:am until 10:pm that evening in memory of the victims of the fire, including HJY disc jockey Mike “The Doctor” Gonsalves. Proceeds from the event will go to The Station Family Fund and the Michael J Gonsalves ’86 Endowment Scholarship Fund at Rhode Island College. These programs have been established to aid families in need of financial support.

In conjunction with this event, Russnroll.com and Washburn Guitars will proudly donate to the event: two guitars to be auctioned off, with proceeds to benefit both charities

While it may not change the events of that night, we hope that the winners of both guitars will keep the memories of all the victims alive through the music they will make for years to come.
